The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical and business support to existing and prospective customers while contributing to the culture of the business unit in their geographic location. Activities are focused on using technical and communication skills in obtaining new business, maintaining existing business, distributor and end user satisfaction, quoting, prospecting, and training. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and business solutions by bridging Kyocera Tycom’s expertise with end-user manufacturing applications
  • Analyze current customer process through SPC, DOE and other methods, effectively communicate data and facts to implement improvement opportunities
  • Assess process opportunities, impacts, risks and develops and implements innovative solutions
  • Define and communicate to customers the detail of cost savings achieved through implementation of process improvements
  • Developing new business opportunities includes lead qualification, samples submission, testing, follow-up, quoting, closing orders and identifying value for the customer
  • Responsible for all territory customer relationships, gaining access and presenting company information to key decision makers
  • Responsible for building relationships at customers through regular interaction and collaboration on technical issues, anticipating potential problems, and making presentation to customers
  • Maintain and improve existing design
  • Coordinates the design launch of revised products
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and Design Engineering organizations

 Experience 

  • 2 - 5 years Cutting Tool technical field experience
  • 2 - 4 years engineering degree

Job Title:      Manufacturing Engineer

 The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing optimal CNC machine settings and parameters for all product lines, with an end result of a well defined, robust manufacturing process able to be deployed to satellite factories in an efficient and timely manner. Secondary functions include participation in FMEA and root cause analysis reports on quality claims and DOE focused on improving the reliability of manufacturing processes. 

 Responsibilities

·         Develop optimal machine settings and parameters for all product types.

·         Reduce cycle time; improve FPY% and RTY% of all manufacturing steps.

·         Improve machine capability through DOE and FMEA techniques.

·         Documentation of SOPs.

·         Deployment of optimized processes to satellite factories for high volume production

·         Perform FMEA and DOE on manufacturing processes

·         Participate in the development and qualification of new equipment

·         Participates in internal quality and environmental audit systems

·         Assist manufacturing departments in analyzing and solving quality issues on production lines.

·         Provides support to manufacturing departments for review of non-conforming product.

 Experience 

·         Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

·         0-3 yrs work or internship experience

·         Lean manufacturing or similar experience desired

·         ISO 9001:2000 knowledge a plus

·         Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Access

·         Excellent communication skills.

·         Strong desire to excel and the ability to motivate others to succeed

·         CNC programming knowledge a plus

·         Must be mechanically inclined and able to trouble shoot manufacturing equipment  

Physical and Environmental Elements 

·          This position may require working around CNC machines, carbide and cutting oil

·          Must be able to lift 25 pounds

·          This position may require standing/walking for extended periods of time
